To Thine Own Self Be True, an exhibition from artist Wendy Rolt
¨There is always a tension that is within, an internal and external dichotomy¨
Artist Wendy Rolt presents her first solo exhibition, To Thine Own Self Be True, September 30th to October 4th at London’s Noho Showrooms 46 Great Tichfield Street, London.
Wendy Rolt is a contemporary British Artist working in a variety of mediums with one goal – to challenge our self-perception. Rolt paints as a response to and exploration of her experiences through years of living in often unusual and diverse situations and communities. This exhibition is an exploration of that.
Classically trained in Florence and inspired by her faith and experience as founder of a charity for women in East London she explores and questions the balance between our inner and outer self in this powerful exhibition. The battle with the person we are inside and the person we wish others to see is something everyone can relate to; however, this vulnerability has never been more challenged than in our current generation with the daily pressures of social media and the constant need of approval. Our desperate need for acceptance – and the fear that we won’t be – resonate throughout Wendy’s thought provoking works of art and leave us doubting how well we actually know out authentic self.
The exhibition takes place 30th to September to 4th October 2020, 6pm-9pm 30th September, 11am – 9pm, 1st-3rd October, 11am – 4pm 4th October, at the Noho Showrooms, 46 Great Tichfield St, London W1W 7QA.
