This body of work was made over 3 years of drawing, carving, sewing, printing and painting in Cornwall. Each piece started with the artist taking time to still and notice her body and its response to both the Cornish Landscape and to her own emotions in the moment. This was a conscious response to the busy nature life in 21st Century UK often asks of us and following a deeper desire to become more present to nature, to each day and unravel from ‘keeping up’ with societies demands and see what art would emerge. The body, it turns out, has a lot to say and these art works were an embodied effort to be alive to that. They feel.
Open Tuesday to Saturday each week 10am–1pm, plus evening viewings each Wednesday 5-7pm
This exhibition shows detailed patterns amongst bold shapes, crafted figures and symbols made from embodied drawings, created language, wall hangings and woodwork.
Wendy has created this diverse body of work over 3 years in response to the joy of making and living in the Cornish wilds.
